The work is based on the Japanese floating ink techniques. Ink spilled on the surface of water disperses in the wind, forming patterns of currents. When a strip of Japanese paper is laid on the water, the drifting trail of ink will be absorbed into the pores of the paper. The pattern of the whirl will emerge, resembling a calligraphic sign. The installation includes a flux of hundreds of ink paintings that form a surface cascading down like a waterfall. The video included in the work documents the painting process and provides an underwater view of the movements of the floating ink.
